SOFTLY
short film by bryan jackson

My former professor Bryan Jackson, had the great idea to make a magical film with dolls set to the Japanese pop song Softly for which he wrote the lyrics. It took a long time and a lot of building tiny sets and driving around, but I'm very proud of this film. It was a tremendous act to produce such a detailed piece, a great exercise in learning, and a whole lot of fun.

        The Synopsis...
With his latest film, Softly (2007), director Bryan                                 Jackson has employed dolls as actors. By staging them in miniature, handcrafted sets, he blurs the line between dollhouse and reality—creating a world as fragile and ephemeral as the romance story that takes place within the frame. The narrative gently unfolds to music created by his chief collaborator, the Tokyo-based composer Eiji Yoshizawa, and performed by Scudelia Electro.
